Community theater is the long and rich tradition of non-professional actors putting on performances.

In Chicago, there is unfortunately not a lot of community theater going on. This is likely because the city has a lot of "store front" theater happening (i.e. trained theater artists who make theater but are not employed full time in those roles) and there isn't a market for both types of lower-budget theater forms.
